NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE
...where education redefines your world
One of a handful of modern colleges recently established, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE (NEC) was conceived and planned by a group of ambitious and determined investors in education sometime late 2003, headed by an outstanding M.A. Education Management graduate from the University of the Philippines.
In response to the need for truly, globally competent graduates in the disciplines of health care, information and I.T., education and business administration to meet worldwide demands for professionals from these fields, Mrs. Norma Ong-Ching, the U.P. alumna & president of a chain of Early Achievers Learning Centres & the De Novo Development Center for special children, partnered with Henry Wong PhD and Mr. David Wong -- both Lasallians and co-founders of H&D Information Technology Inc., decided to make a difference in career-oriented education in the Philippines.
NEC opened in June 2005, merely a week after government permits were granted, offered four-year Baccalaureate programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English; Bachelor in Elementary Education – Special Education (SPED); B.S. in Information Technology; B.S. in Computer Science; B.S. in Business Administration major in Management; CTH (UK) diplomas in Tourism and Hospitality Management, as well as TESDA courses such as Caregiver, English Proficiency Program (EPP) and Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
The college is now on its way to greater heights in the delivery of world-class, globally competitive education. In 2009, NEC signed sisterhood agreements with two distinguished private tertiary institutions in Taiwan - the Cheng Shiu University in Kaohsiung and the Nan-Jeon Institute of Science and Technology in Tainan. In 2010, NEC collaborated with the prestigious Confucius Institute of Ateneo de Manila University as their extension campus of Mandarin Language programs.
