One of a handful of modern compact colleges in Metro-Manila, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE (NEC) was conceived and planned by a group of ambitious and determined investors in education sometime late 2003, headed by an outstanding M.A. Education Management graduate from the University of the Philippines and a young entrepreneur from Hong Kong. In response to the need for truly, globally competent graduates in the disciplines of health care, information and I.T., education and business administration to meet worldwide demands for professionals from these fields, Mrs. Norma Ong-Ching -- the U.P. alumnae & president of a chain of Early Achievers Learning Centers, together with Dr. Henry Wong -- co-founder of H&D Information Technology Incorporated, then decided to make a difference in career-oriented education.
NEC opened in the first semester of 2005, a week after government permits were granted, offered the following Baccalaureate programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English; Bachelor in Elementary Education – Special Education (SPED); B.S. in Information Technology; B.S. in Computer Science; B.S. in Business Administration major in Management; as well as: UK Diplomas in Tourism and Hospitality (CTH-Modular), Caregiver, English Proficiency Program, Associate in Nursing (ASN), etc. The college is now on its way to greater heights in the delivery of world-class, globally competitive education.
In order to promote further cooperation between the Republic of Philippines and the United States of America, as well as to continuously foster international linkages with world class educational institutions, New England College (NEC) joins in a degree-completion agreement with Liberty University (LU) of Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.
Liberty University is certified to operate in the State of Virginia by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees. Liberty has program accreditation for Nursing from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has approval from the Virginia Board of Nursing (VBN).
In 2009, NEC established sisterhood agreements with several prestigious tertiary insitutions in Taiwan.
