BIO
1a Anatomy and Physiology 1 The study of the organ systems from the perspective of their structure, process, and regulation of their structure, process, and regulation. The course specifically deals with cells, tissues, integument, skeletal system, muscular system and nervous system.
BIO
1b Anatomy and Physiology 2 A continuation of Anatomy and Physiology 1 intended to complete the required two-semester sequence. The course covers the following systems: endocrine, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.
BIO 2
Microbiology and Parasitology The course deals with the physiological and pathogenic properties of bacteria, fungi and viruses as introduction to disease causation. It also deals with the component of the immune system and host parasite interactions. Laboratory includes the principles and methods of basic staining procedures, biochemical reactions of bacteria and serologic reactions. Parasitology deals with the study of the life cycle of parasites in relation to the manifestation, control and management of infestations. Students are introduced to the important vector of diseases and how they transmit pathogenic organisms.
PHARMA
Pharmacology and Therapeutics The course introduces the student to math and procedures for safe and effective medication administration across the lifespan. This course includes an overview of drug classes and actions, as well as basic pharmacology as an integral part of nursing care as well as the integration of concepts and principles related to drug administration.

Health Economics with TAR The course focuses on concepts, principles, and techniques of resource utilization for the production of services in the health care delivery system.
CHD
Community Health Development This course focuses on the in – depth discussion of the principles, approaches, strategies and processes to community health development. This will equip the student with the principles of health education as the core in the COPAR model.
SHED Strategies in Health Education This course introduces prospective teachers of health, like the nurses as members of the health team, to the complex nature of teaching. It dealt specifically with principles associated with the different instructional operations and curricular management of curriculum and instruction and acquaints the student with basic concepts fundamental to instruction.
PHC
Primary Health Care Concepts and principles in the provision of basic health care in terms of health promotion/maintenance and disease prevention at the individual, family and the community level are taken, utilizing community organizing process based on empowerment of the people through health education.
NCM 100
Foundation of Nursing / Professional Nursing 1
This course
provides the learner the basic fundamental concepts of professional
nursing as a profession, science and art. This is the initial
offering or introductory professional nursing course of the BSN (RN)
Curriculum. Emphasis is placed on the hallmarks of professional
nursing practice as well as its ethico-legal-moral aspects. The
role of the professional RN is dissected within the context of the
current or contemporary health care delivery system both locally and
globally. The nursing process is taken up, in all its width and
depth. Fundamental nursing concepts, theories and principles
related to basic procedural nursing skills are well explained and
strengthened in tune with global self-care requisite in a very
interactive and technological nursing skills laboratory. Different
nursing roles of the professional nurse in health promotion and
specific illness prevention are emphasized by utilizing the nursing
process. The essence and problem solving tool of nursing are well
discussed. |
